Good Night Great Day (GNGD) — 2021

Good Night Great Day is Barkley’s celebration of the year’s accomplishments and inspiring creativity for the year to come. Coming out of 2020, the theme was breaking creativity and Flip was my answer to the brief.

The core idea behind Flip was to accept that things will never be the same after 2020 and to be okay with that. Let’s reassess what’s upside-down and right-side-up. Let’s rearrange the world to fit our new conditions for creativity. Let’s reimagine the spaces where ideas are born, and push them to places they’ve never been.

The concept artwork for Flip was an illustration where the iconic Barkley building is deconstructed and put back together like a wild fun house. The bright color palette added more vibrancy to the agency’s illustrated universe filled with easter eggs. Knowing that this would later be developed into a full-fledged design system, isometric perspective was used so that other designers could rearrange and drop in assets from the illustration library.
